#62 - Chris Spealler On The Evolution Of CrossFit, The Glock Controversy & Finding A Good Medium

A former college wrestler from a family of standout athletes, Chris Spealler quickly became one of CrossFit’s leading ambassadors, impressing and inspiring newcomers to the sport with his underdog spirit, unequaled work ethic, and warm personality. A competitor at the very first CrossFit Games in 2007, he would eventually collect a pair of Southwest Regional titles and three Top 10 finishes at the Games (2007, 2008, 2010).

To start, Chris talks about how he got into CrossFit. Next, he talks about the things that now shape his current life, and a short look into five years ago. Chris then talks about what made him decide to start having a coach as an athlete. He then compares what CrossFit was like back then from now, and talks about its evolution over the years.
 
Next, we talk about gun rights and Chris’ thoughts on them for CrossFit athletes. Chris talks about daily workout routines, and he shares with us what a day looks like at the end of a competition. We also ask him if he enjoys his training before he starts talking about what things are like before regional competitions.
 
Things get interesting as Chris starts to talk about how he prepares for upcoming events. He also talks about what mindset he gets into when he’s competing in regionals. Finally, Chris talks about gymnastics and barbell movements.
